The Hydra Plate Carrier from Trident Tactical Solutions (TTS) is a purpose-built maritime plate carrier engineered for operators who require full combat capability on land while maintaining maximum survivability in water. Designed for military and law-enforcement personnel operating in riverine, littoral, and open-ocean environments, the Hydra provides the load-carrying capacity of a traditional plate carrier with a uniquely capable emergency separation system to prevent drowning, gear entanglement, or negative buoyancy emergencies.
Stronger – Just how strong is the plate carrier material for HYDRA? The material is so strong you can’t cut it with a knife and it is designed to work in environments like the ocean and desert alike.
Maritime Safe – First of it’s kind to have ripcord ditch system that allows the front and back plates to rapidly separate, enabling the operator to swim free from the carrier.

- Parachute-style ripcord release connects the shoulder straps and cummerbund to the rear plate.
- Built with Spectra® cord, nylon-coated stainless-steel cable, and stainless-steel grommets—all selected specifically for saltwater resistance.
- When activated, the ripcord allows the front and back plates to rapidly separate, enabling the operator to swim free from the carrier.
